American Horticultural Society has cancelled its project for October 25th.

Borge Street Park has cancelled its project for October 25th.

Brentwood Park has postponed its project to October 26th from 9am-12pm.

Cub Run RECenter has postponed its project to October 26th from 1pm-4pm.

Fairfax ReLeaf has postponed its project to November 1st from 10am-2pm.

George C. Marshall High School has postponed its project to October 26th from 11am-2pm.

Haven of Northern Virginia has postponed its project to November 8th from 10am-2pm.

Huntley Meadows Park has postponed its project to October 26th from 12pm-2pm.

Northern Virginia Training Center has cancelled its project for October 25th.

Pohick Regional Library has cancelled its project for October 25th.



General Information
Volunteer Fairfax invites you to bring your family and friends to volunteer at the 14th annual VolunteerFest® on Saturday, October 25. Part of the national “Make a Difference Day,” this community-wide day of service engages more than 700 volunteers around Fairfax County at schools, libraries, parks and nonprofit agencies.

Volunteer projects include building outdoor classrooms, painting offices, creating a wildlife habitat and environmental cleanups. Service projects start mid-morning and end around lunch time. Make the most of your Saturday and volunteer.

Over the last 13 years, VolunteerFest® has engaged more than 15,000 volunteers at 490 projects for a total of 47,000 hours of service to the community.

Youth Volunteer Policy
We are thrilled to have volunteers of all ages participating in the event. If you are a volunteer under the age of 18 in you are REQUIRED to bring a signed copy of the Liability Waiver to your volunteer project. If you do not bring a signed waiver you will not be able to volunteer. Please download the form from the right-hand side of the page under the documents heading.

The Registration Process
1. Listed below are 37 different volunteer projects in Fairfax County to choose from. The majority of projects occur on October 25; however a few projects occur on October 18 and November 1.

2. Select the project you would like to volunteer at and click the Sign Up Button.. (Please note projects whose sign up button is grey are full.) One person can sign up up to 99 people for a project.

3. Once registration is complete you will receive an email confirmation with further details of the project.

Help with the Fall preparations for the gardens by planting bulbs, spreading mulch and picking up trash. Inside, help by cleaning shelves, furniture and other surfaces, as well as pick up items that have fallen behind the shelves, shift collections, assist with creating displays along with several other projects. Volunteers are needed to replenish the fall zones at the Borge Street Park with wood chips in an effort to soften the ground for the child play areas. Volunteers will also remove weeds in the area as well. Hand tools and wheel barrows will be provided.

Volunteers are needed to put books in the correct order on the shelves. There are plenty of collections for volunteers to work on based off individual interest.
