Purpose:
At Volunteer Fairfax, communications is vital our function. The better we can communicate and gain recognition throughout the community the more we can make an impact. Currently, Communications is directed by one staff member who manages all aspects of communications, including: social media, promotions, website, as well as radio, TV, and newspaper contacts. Volunteer Fairfax is seeking an intern to assist in our communication efforts relating to social media and the website, volunteerfairfax.org.
Commitment:
This position prefers 10-15 hours a week but is negotiable. The intern would work at Volunteer Fairfax, located at 10530 Page Avenue, Fairfax, Virginia 22030, during regular office hours Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is seeking to gain an insight into events management of a small, but growing nonprofit. In this role, you will provide valuable support and will be carrying out tasks individually, and as part of a team. Interested candidate should be a self-starter who is able to work on her/his own initiative and will be comfortable carrying out routine tasks as well as using flair and creativity to bring fresh ideas to the team. The internship offers real-world communications experience.
The hours for the position are negotiable, typically 15-20 hours a week. The intern would work at Volunteer Fairfax, located at 10530 Page Avenue, Fairfax, VA, 22030.
Purpose:
This experience will provide the opportunity to assist the Special Events Department with a variety of community events, including an annual awards program, community service day and fundraiser. In addition, the selected intern will learn valuable skills in event coordination, time management, multi-tasking and communication, as well as gain an understanding of nonprofit and volunteer events.
