In conjunction with National Make a Difference Day, VolunteerFest® engages more than 900 volunteers at Fairfax County nonprofits on the fourth Saturday of each October.
The 2010 VolunteerFest® will be held on Saturday, October 23.
Each April, Volunteer Fairfax recognizes outstanding community volunteers. In the award's 16 year history, more than 1,800 volunteers have been honored. Nominees and award winners are recognized at a breakfast ceremony supported by area businesses, elected officials and community leaders.
The 2010 Service Awards will be held on Friday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Fairview Park Marriott.
Volunteer Fairfax offers a Patch Program to Girl Scouts that teaches the value of giving back to the community. Participants complete service projects, learn the basics of volunteerism, and earn a patch to show their care for the community.
Volunteer Fairfax’s newest event, Give Together, is a family volunteer program. Families can learn about local nonprofits while completing age-appropriate service projects in one central location. These projects directly benefit the nonprofits being represented and help teach families the meaning of volunteerism.
