Volunteers in Tax Assistance (VITA)/Creating Assets, Savings and Hope (CASH) Initiative
Working with the Office of Partnerships and the Department of Family Services, the Center focuses on recruitment of volunteers, educating the general public on the services provided and outreach to potential customers and nonprofit agencies. Volunteer Fairfax brings many resources to the table for this initiative including corporate connections that lead to new partners, corporate volunteers.
Deloitte Community Tax Assistance Day
For the past two years, Deloitte has teamed with Volunteer Fairfax to hold a day long tax preparation event. The day sees 90 employee volunteers contributing a combined 540 hours to prepare tax returns for families making less than $42,000 annually.
Northern Virginia Multicultural Volunteer Recruitment Committee
This committee was formed in 2007 to target outreach and recruitment to the diverse populations that make up Northern Virginia. Events and flyers in multiple languages are just a few of the activities of this group.
Venture into Volunteering Senior and Boomer Initiative
Initiated by the Fairfax County Department of Recreation, Volunteer Fairfax provides the connection to nonprofit agencies that serve this population and those who are interested in recruiting mature individuals as volunteers.
Fairfax Cares
Fairfax Cares helps strengthen the basic needs safety net system during this time of economic crisis. Fairfax Cares receives and distributes monetary donations, helps keep the food pantry shelves plentiful and brings out the best in our community. Volunteer Fairfax helps to raise awareness, donations (both cash and in-kind), and volunteer support to help our neighbors weather this economic crisis.

Celebrate Fairfax

Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce
Jeanne Sanders, Volunteer Fairfax executive director, is an ex-officio member of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and has spoken to the Chamber's nonprofit members on education and awareness issues.
Fairfax County Faith Communities in Action
Volunteer Fairfax is a member of Fairfax County Faith Communities in Action, a network of faith communities, community-based organizations, and government agencies that fosters interfaith communication and cooperation to build and strengthen human services resources in Fairfax County.
Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce Community Services Committee
Volunteer Fairfax assists with community events, including recruiting and coordinating volunteers for the annual Professional Business Clothing Drive. Volunteer Fairfax provides a voice for its nonprofit members, offering advice on educational trainings and events that are of interest to the nonprofit community.
Leadership Fairfax
With two staff and more than 50 percent of the board of directors members LFI alum, Volunteer Fairfax has been very supportive of Leadership Fairfax over the years, returning to coach and mentor LFI and Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) participants.
Metro Coalition of Volunteer Centers/National Network of Volunteer Centers
Volunteer Fairfax is an active member of both the National Network of Volunteer Centers and the local Metropolitan Coalition of Volunteer Centers, a collaborative of the eleven regional volunteer centers representing jurisdictions in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. The coalition works together to promote the value of volunteerism in community building and develop a coordinated emergency response effort that includes volunteer mobilization, and coordination of in-kind goods and services.
Nonprofit NOVA
Executive directors from more than fifty community-based organizations come together quarterly to share best practices, draft a legislative agenda for both local and state government entities, and to discuss critical issues that affect the nonprofit sector. Through this forum, Volunteer Fairfax gains insight into community needs and advocacy issues, that is then disseminated to community volunteers, corporate partners and its broader nonprofit network.
Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington & the Greater Washington Nonprofit Emergency Preparedness Task Force
The Nonprofit Roundtable is a membership organization of 170 direct service providers that facilitates collaboration and leadership for regional solutions in the Washington D.C., Metro region.
Northern Virginia Association of Volunteer Administrators (NVAVA)
NVAVA is a professional membership organization for persons committed to the effective involvement of volunteers in community programs and services. Volunteer Fairfax provides information on best practices and professionalism for volunteer administration.
Points of Light Foundation/Hands on Network
Volunteer Fairfax is an affiliate of the Points of Light Foundation/Hands on Network, which is the umbrella organization for more than 300 volunteer centers across the country. Volunteer Fairfax participates in training opportunities provided by the organization, allowing for networking and sharing of best practices with other leading volunteer centers.
South County Nonprofit Leadership Group
A network of nonprofit leaders serving Southern Fairfax County, this group meets every other month to address challenges and opportunities unique to this geographic location.
Virginia Network of Nonprofit Organizations (VANNO)
Volunteer Fairfax served on the steering committee for the formation of the Virginia Network of Nonprofit Organizations, a newly-formed 501(c)(3) state-wide organization incorporated to represent the interests of the nonprofit sector in Virginia.
