Deloitte IMPACT Day

IMPACT Day is a national, firm-wide day of service that provides employees the opportunity to participate in locally-driven projects to support community needs.

In 2011, Deloitte registered 4,033 employees in the DC metro region for this annual volunteer event. On this one day, Deloitte employees volunteered at 86 sites and supported more than 80+ different nonprofit organizations.

In the Washington, D.C. Metro region, Volunteer Fairfax helped coordinate IMPACT Day by providing project development, project management, evaluation, and consultation services. The volunteer center directly managed six projects sites.

2011 Accomplishments

In just one day, Deloitte volunteers:

Mentored students on how to destress and handle the multiple pressures they experience through sports and health related activities.
Beautified the front area of the school including a man-made pond, repainted the athletic field fence and repainted a special access ramp alongside students. Worked with students on job readiness skills.
Removed over 50 bags of invasive garlic mustard plants and spread mulch over 1.5 miles of trails.
Painted football bleachers, landscaped and maintained grounds, and cleaned and organized the costume rooms of the theater department at a local high school.
Escorted and accompanied 200 residents who cannot walk without assistance through carnival-type activities around the campus of senior home.
Read and graded over 200 Scholarship Essays, created over 800 hand-made cards for fall care packages.
