Lockheed Martin Day of Service

In 2011, Lockheed Martin contracted with Volunteer Fairfax for support in coordinating its third annual large-scale employee volunteer day. Volunteer Fairfax directly managed five projects sites.

The day made a huge difference to these local organizations and to the communities they serve. Volunteers helped create safe trails for walking patrons, improved natural habitat for wildlife, prepared items to be sent to troops and families serving overseas, and beautified public lands.

2011 Accomplishments

Painted bathrooms and cleaned up the courtyards at a local high school.
Created scrapbooks for children in a head start program.
Removed invasive plants and cleaned a dam at a nature preserve.
Painted a picnic pavilion and created a hiking trail at a state park.
Painted and landscaped a group home for people with disabilities.
