Lockheed Martin Day of Service
In 2012, Lockheed Martin contracted with Volunteer Fairfax for support in coordinating its fourth annual large-scale employee volunteer day. Volunteer Fairfax directly managed four projects sites.
The day made a huge difference to these local organizations and to the communities they serve. Volunteers helped maintain safe trails for walking patrons, created scrapbooks for children, beautified a homeless shelter, and painted fencing at a farm.
2012 Accomplishments
- Cleaned and reorganized a local food pantry and homeless shelter.
- Created nearly 50 scrapbooks for children in a head start program.
- Landscaped and mulched nature trails surrounding a recreation center.
- Painted over 7,000 square feet of fence for a therapeutic riding program.
