The Fairfax County Roundup

Whole Community Collaboration for Disaster Resiliency

On October 25th, 2012, Volunteer Fairfax organized the first annual Fairfax County Roundup in partnership with Fairfax County.  The one-day conference brought together leaders from the faith community, safety-net nonprofits, civic associations, local government, and private business to address the issue of disaster resiliency in our community.  The event offered a forum for dialogue and progress.  It also set the priority for future disaster resiliency initiatives in Fairfax County.  To review 2012 conference materials, please see the links below.  If you would like to participate in the 2013 event, please check back regularly, as planning will begin shortly.

Here is the Northern Virginia Regional VOAD membership application.  Many participants were asking for it at the event.  As you may have heard, membership dues are $25 and very much worth it.  Please submit completed applications here.

If you wish to attend Faith Communities in Action's Emergency Planning Steering Committee, please contact Tenia Simmons. Houses of worship are also encouraged to sign up for the Faith Communities Alert Network by emailing Tenia.

Information about the Fairfax County Citizen Corps can be obtained by emailing Marcelo Ferreira, the Office of Emergency Management's liaison to the Council.
