Volunteer Fairfax will help connect nonprofits to potential board members and potential board members to nonprofits in need of their service.
Incorporated 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations located in Northern Virginia or the District of Columbia are eligible. Boards and Commissions of Northern Virginia local governments are also eligible to participate.
For this program, Northern Virginia is defined as Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince Williams Counties or the Cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas or Manassas Park.
Executive directors, board chairs, board chairs-elect and/or chairs of an organization’s nominating committee can participate in the program.
The BoardLink Northern Virginia and Your Nonprofit will prepare an organization to find effective new board members through this program. The purpose for the orientation session includes:
Once you’ve attended an orientation, access to the database will be granted. As an agency you will then submit an online profile with a description of needed board member(s) and their skills. Once you have completed your profile BoardLink Northern Virginia will work to match you with suitable candidate(s).
BoardLink Northern Virginia is seeking to faciliate community engagement and a successful match may therefore lead to a variety of outcomes including: an invitation to join a board, a committee or serve the organization as a volunteer. If a match is not made, your listing in the BoardLink data base will continue. Eligible nonprofits are welcome to re-list once additional needs arise.
Nonprofit orientations will be offered on a quarterly basis. Our upcoming orientation will be announced soon.
To register for an orientation session or for more information please contact Susan Sanow (703) 246-3534.
