Paul Berry

“Paul Berry is a community champion. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate him and his great work. Leading the Redistricting Advisory Committee took great patience, multitasking, and commitment. He excelled at all three. He truly amplified our One Fairfax policy of diversity, equity, and fairness in all aspects of community engagement. We are so proud of his work,” writes Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay.

Paul was appointed as the Chair of the Redistricting Committee to look at the 2020 Census results for Fairfax County. Charged first with evaluating magisterial districts and precinct lines and then overseeing the group’s work and recommendations for potential district renaming, Paul was a steadfast leader and voice for the community. Redistricting work only happens once every ten years. The importance of both phases of the Redistricting Advisory Committee cannot be overstated. Paul was able to minimize impacts and keep communities together – a key to this effort.

Paul has spent countless hours ensuring members of the committees he serves feel respected, engaged, and listened to. He is committed to creating a public engagement process that reflects all voices in our diverse community. He has led with passion and a positive attitude through countless evening and public meetings. Paul is a consensus builder and very effective in fostering public engagement in everything he does.  His attitude and work ethic truly inspire all those around him.

The Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors takes great pleasure in honoring Paul Berry for the Community Champion Award this year.
