Volunteers For Change & Alternative Community Service Program Manager
Kim joined Volunteer Fairfax in May 2017 to run the Alternative Community Service and Volunteers for Change programs. Before joining VF, she was a long-time substitute teacher in the Fairfax County Public Schools and provided years of local reporting for community newspapers. Kim graduated from Averett University in 1991 with a degree in English, Journalism, Communications and a minor in U.S. History. She has since used that background to strengthen her community connections. She has spent the past 25 years leading and serving in community associations, church programs, youth service organizations, and schools. She is currently a member of the Averett University Alumni Association Board of Directors and was recently the DC Regional Coordinator for American Heritage Girls, as a volunteer. She and her husband live in Fairfax with their three teenagers, who keep her very busy. She is an avid Washington Nationals fan, loves to read historical fiction, and spending time with her family and pets.
