The Power of the Community

Recognizing that it is human networks that make things happen, Volunteer Fairfax works closely with a broad array of community organizations to provide leadership and support for the county’s community building objectives. This investment in building relationships is central to the Volunteer Center’s core values and mission in the community. A few of our active partnerships are detailed below.

Fairfax County Office of Public Private Partnerships (OP3)

OP3 creates and develops public private partnerships to stimulate positive change in the community and encourage civic involvement and responsibility. The office brings together representatives and resources from public and private sectors to address community issues impacting the quality of life in Fairfax County.

Points of Light (POL)

Volunteer Fairfax is an affiliate of Points of Light, which is the umbrella organization for hundreds of volunteer centers across the country. Volunteer Fairfax participates in training opportunities provided by the organization, allowing for networking and sharing of best practices with other leading volunteer centers. Through POL the center engages companies in Corporate Activations, recognizes volunteers through the Points of Light Award and engages citizens in Days of Service.

Charge Up Collaborative

The Charge Up Collaborative is a partnership of leading capacity building organizations in the Greater Washington Region. Members work to strengthen and build high performing nonprofits by identifying their needs, assessing their readiness and providing them access to appropriate services. Through the sharing of resources and expertise, Charge Up members strive to improve the sustainability, quality, and impact of the nonprofit sector.

Connect Northern Virginia

An easy-to-use and customizable website for the Northern Virginia community offering public and private sector information about a wide range of community issues and resources.

Fairfax County Faith Communities in Action

Volunteer Fairfax is a member of Fairfax County Faith Communities in Action, a network of faith communities, community-based organizations, and government agencies that fosters interfaith communication and cooperation to build and strengthen human services resources in Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Public Libraries – Teen Info Sessions

In collaboration with the Fairfax County Public Libraries Volunteer Fairfax has hosted annual Teen Volunteer Info Sessions each fall to educate students on how to engage in service and find relevant opportunities to serve in their community.

Leadership Fairfax

With individuals from the staff and board of directors members being LFI alum, Volunteer Fairfax has been very supportive of Leadership Fairfax over the years.

Regional Volunteer Centers

Volunteer Fairfax is one of eight regional volunteer centers representing jurisdictions in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Northern Virginia Association of Volunteer Administrators (NVAVA)

NVAVA is a professional membership organization for persons committed to the effective involvement of volunteers in community programs and services. Volunteer Fairfax provides information on best practices and professionalism for volunteer administration.

NoVIE (Northern Virginia Idea Exchange)

NoVIE is a member driven, CEO-level forum that brings together ideas, knowledge and support that benefit the health and viability of social good organizations.

South County Nonprofit Leadership Group

A network of nonprofit leaders serving Southern Fairfax County, this group meets every other month to address challenges and opportunities unique to this geographic location.

Venture Into Volunteering

Are you 55 or better? You can take advantage of the informative fairs that Venture into Volunteering Senior and Boomer Initiative holds once a year. Learn about the resources available to those 55 and older and how you can take advantage of them.
