Information For Attorneys

Attorneys must provide a referral form by mail or fax before an appointment is made or at the time of the appointment. Download the form. Forms can also be submitted electronically. Please send the referral form as an attachment to the ACS Coordinator’s email address at the bottom of the page.

Volunteer Fairfax cannot accept clients under the age of 18 or that have the following charges:

  • Violent (ex: assault, assault and battery)
  • Sexual (ex: solicitation of a prostitute)
  • Concealed weapons

Volunteer Fairfax reserves the right to accept clients on a case-by-case basis.

Pretrial ACS clients are given priority in scheduling. It is in the client's best interest to contact Volunteer Fairfax as soon as possible in order to schedule an interview.

Volunteer Fairfax will find a placement for the client according to the following:

  • Availability
  • Geographic Location
  • Transportation
  • Language Abilities

There is a $75.00 non-fundable fee at the time of placement in cash or money order paid by the client to Volunteer Fairfax. The increased fee is due to the expedited process.

Clients may work with an agency outside of Volunteer Fairfax's database, however all placements must be approved by the ACS Coordinator prior to beginning service.

To complete the program successfully, the client must:

  • Report to the agency on time as scheduled.
  • Cooperate and perform work satisfactorily.
  • Respect and observe the rules of the agency.

If the client fails to comply with the above requirements and is terminated from the agency placement assigned, the client is not guaranteed a new placement.

The deadline to complete the required community service hours is set by the Alternative Community Service Coordinator. Clients are given until two business days before the next court date to complete as many hours as possible.

The Alternative Community Service Coordinator reserves the right to terminate cases for behavior deemed inappropriate.
