Fairfax, VA – April 18, 2024 – Volunteer Fairfax recognizes the outstanding work of volunteer leaders in the community.

The Volunteer Service Awards (VSA) serve as a community-wide celebration of volunteerism. Each year, Volunteer Fairfax honors the commitment of volunteers, nonprofit organizations, and corporations who tirelessly contribute to the betterment of the Northern Virginia region. These individuals are nominated by community members, local nonprofits, and government agencies for their unwavering dedication to the community.

Volunteer Fairfax, together with the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, recognizes the incredible dedication, talent and heart of volunteer leaders; each Supervisor selects their district’s Community Champion in recognition of their exceptional volunteer contributions. Detailed information on each of the Supervisor selected Community Champions can be found here on our website.

In addition to the Community Champion awards, the VSA Selection Committee has named the finalists for the following competitive awards:

Volunteer Fairfax will also be honoring Eileen Ellsworth with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her community impact and Regional leadership as the now retired President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia (CFNOVA). Lastly, Jeff Bentley, President and CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union will receive the Executive Leader of the Year award for his dedication to communities in need.

The Volunteer Fairfax Volunteer Service Awards will be held on May 9, 2024 and will recognize and celebrate this year’s Community Champions along with other exceptional volunteers across our region. Local nonprofits and government agencies rely on the dedication of volunteers to deliver on their mission and support their clients.
