Ms. Angie Guevara is a long-time community advocate who steps up to support children, families, and community.   As a long-time staff member at Hutchison Elementary School, “Ms. Guevara will never say NO to children, hunger, education or families,” says one colleague.  This sentiment was echoed by others noting that she has “relentless determination in everything she undertakes.”  And, she undertakes a lot; volunteering with Reston Strong, McLean Bible Church, Herndon Winter Market as well as serving on multiple committees and boards.

Ms. Guevara is particularly passionate about helping those in need.  Working in conjunction with Reston Strong she was able to negotiate a plan to obtain food from both Costco and Sam’s Club to be donated and delivered to support food insecure individuals and families in the Parcher Avenue corridor.  She has also supported McLean Bible Church to get fresh food and pre-packed food boxes to neighbors in need across the community.

In her role on the Lake Homes recreation committee for nearly 16 years, she spends a significant amount of time volunteering to support the swim team as concessions lead, hosting social events and serving as the swim team representative at regional meetings.   Ms. Guevara is enthusiastic about bringing people together for fun and to do good.  She enjoys hosting a National Night Out each year to build strong community ties as well as planning an annual holiday party where folks can donate gifts for the children in need.   Ms. Guevara’s joyous and giving nature are contagious and inspire those around her to take part.

“Angie Guevara is the type of person we all want in our communities. She has generously shared her time and skills over decades to make her Herndon community a better place to live. I am grateful for all that Ms. Guevara has contributed to the Dranesville District.”
