A special volunteer event designed especially  for families with school-age children

Fairfax, VA – 1.6.2020  — Give Together, a signature program of Volunteer Fairfax, helps to foster a legacy of volunteerism in the generations to come.  Now in its 11th year, Give Together recognizes MLK Day as a day of service bringing families together to work on projects that benefit our community.  The event is free and encourages families of elementary school-age children to participate.

On Monday, January 20, 2020, volunteer with your children to work on service projects benefitting our community. Together, you’ll create Valentine’s cards for youth in foster care, prepare cat adoption kits, assemble snack packs for food-insecure children, create fleece lap blankets for veterans and much more.

Give Together will take place between 9 am and 3 pm at the Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia located at 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax, VA 22030.  Though the event is free, registration is required.  You will have the opportunity to select the best time slot for you and your family to serve.

Steve Mutty, CEO of Volunteer Fairfax says, “here is another reason to bring your kids out on MLK Day to the Give Together event. Volunteering teaches other values that parents work so diligently to instill in their children–values such as selflessness, responsibility, and gratitude.  Help us build a great generation.”

To sign up to participate in Give Together, visit www.volunteerfairfax.org, click events, then click Give Together.  This free event is open to families with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Older teens can be involved by registering as a Teen Event Volunteer.

For more than 45 years, Volunteer Fairfax has mobilized people and resources to improve communities in the region. Through a variety of programs, special events and services, Volunteer Fairfax engages thousands of volunteers annually to make an impact on the quality of life in Fairfax County and beyond.
