Katherine (Katie) Bartuska is the Community Engagement Volunteer Project Manager, where she connects businesses with high-impact service opportunities. In this role, she designs meaningful customized service events for companies that align employee engagement with community impact.

Katie is also an Adjunct Instructor with Virginia Tech’s Department of Economics. Previously, Katie worked at the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, where she supported global humanitarian programs to better meet the needs of women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized communities. Her experience spans program and project management, stakeholder engagement, policy, and technical advising across complex portfolios. She holds a Master’s Degree from American University’s School of International Service and Bachelor’s Degrees from Penn State University.

Outside of work, Katie likes reading, hiking, cycling, and running. She can often be found riding her bike or training for her next race on one of Virginia’s many trails; planning her next National Park adventure; or discussing her recent reads with her book club.
