VolunteerFest® is a region-wide day of community service held in conjunction with National Make a Difference Day in which nearly 1,500 individuals volunteer throughout Fairfax County. VolunteerFest® mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to help nonprofits accomplish tasks that they would not have the time or resources to do on their own on the third Saturday of each October.

Each April, Volunteer Fairfax recognizes outstanding community volunteers. In the award's 17 year history, more than 2,100 volunteers have been honored. Nominees and award winners are recognized at a breakfast ceremony supported by area businesses, elected officials and community leaders.
The 2012 Service Awards will be held on Friday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Waterford at Springfield.
Volunteer Fairfax offers a Patch Program to Girl Scouts that teaches the value of giving back to the community. Participants complete service projects, learn the basics of volunteerism, and earn a patch to show their care for the community.
Volunteer Fairfax’s signature event, Give Together, is a family volunteer program. Families can learn about local nonprofits while completing age-appropriate service projects in one central location. These projects directly benefit the nonprofits being represented and help teach families the meaning of volunteerism.
Give Together 2012 will be held in conjunction with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16.
On Saturday, December 3, 2011, Volunteer Fairfax will host the second annual VolRUNteer 5K and Fun Run at George Mason University.
