Whether working together as a family or on your own as an adult, Volunteer Fairfax offers programs and volunteer opportunities to fit your needs!
Do you have a desire to give back to the community but limited time to dedicate to training and an ongoing commitment? Then sign up for Volunteers for Change! Volunteers for Change provides flexible weekend and evening volunteer opportunities for active, civically engaged adults (and young adults!) who have a desire to serve. The program offers more than 55 opportunities to serve each month, sent right to your e-mail box. With projects as diverse as packing emergency food kits for families in crisis, tutoring adults in alternative learning programs, throwing birthday parties for underserved children living in a shelter, or removing invasive vines so native plants can thrive, there's something for everyone. Projects take place in the evenings or on weekends and last from one to four hours. The only training required to get started is a one-time, one-hour orientation. These are held monthly at the Volunteer Fairfax office in the City of Fairfax. Click here for upcoming dates.
Or, if you would like to find a new, fun way to spend time with your family, consider family volunteering. Give Together: A Family Volunteer Day is a new event for families to make a difference in the community. The first Give Together was held on the MLK Jr. Day of Service January 18, 2010, at the George Mason University. Donating time with each other is always a unique way for your family to spend time together while helping your community. Family volunteer opportunities are available on VolunteerNow! as well as through Volunteer Fairfax's events such as VolunteerFest®. . . Be sure to also check our Community Events calendar for other activities around the area!
