Nonprofit Resources

Volunteer Fairfax is dedicated to building capacity in the nonprofit sector. Member organizations have preferred access to Volunteer Fairfax’s wide range of programs and services. All our work is centered around our member agencies and we would not be able to successfully fill our mission without you. Please consider becoming a member today.  In the past year we have partnered with 500 agencies to make valuable community transformations through volunteerism, connecting 18, 547 volunteers to opportunities throughout the community. We have done this through a variety of our programs which are designed to support our member agencies including:

• BusinessLink: Are you interested in learning about Volunteer Fairfax’s role in connecting businesses and corporations to regional nonprofits? Or could you potentially host a group project?
• BoardLink: Is your agency struggling to recruit new board members?
• Training: Have your volunteer managers been properly trained? Do you need to professionalize you volunteer or board management process? Learn about Volunteer Fairfax’s diverse training offerings!
• RSVP: Interested in learning more about Northern Virginia’s RSVP: An Invitation to Serve?
• Volunteers for Change: VFC offers nonprofits the chance to develop relationships with some of our 900 committed volunteers.  Opportunities are offered on a monthly basis on the evenings and weekends.  Interested in hosting one-time or ongoing Volunteers for Change project? Contact Jen Kivlin.
• Alternative Community Service : This program helps individuals meet court mandated requirements, while providing valuable support to regional nonprofits.  Interested in learning more? Contact Janet Davison.
• Community Wide Days of Service: Volunteer Fairfax coordinates three community wide days of service per year: Give Together: A Family Day of Volunteering (January), Global Youth Service Day (April) and VolunteerFest (October.)  For more information on applications or eligibility contact Pheobe Bicknell.

We have continued to make a strong impact in the community by mobilizing people and resources to meet community needs, not only through our programs, but also through our website and new upgraded database! We had over 100,000 unique visitors to our website in the last year.  This provides member agencies with a valuable tool to connect and engage our regional community through:

• VolunteerNow!: an interactive and publically searchable database of volunteer opportunities
• The Community Calendar: a interactive, public calendar of community events
• The Donations Guide: an interactive listing of donations needs throughout the community; the donations guide is designed to serve the community in times of emergency as well as to fill everyday needs.
• The Job Board: a brand new place to advertise your employment (jobs, internships & fellowship) needs locally!
