RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and older. In Northern Virginia, RSVP volunteers are responding to community needs in and around Fairfax County, Arlington County, and the City of Alexandria. Individuals choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. RSVP is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). RSVP-Northern Virginia is sponsored by Volunteer Fairfax in partnership with Volunteer Arlington and Volunteer Alexandria.

1. Register for a one-time, one-hour RSVP Orientation to learn about current volunteer opportunities, RSVP member benefits, and volunteer policies. Click on one of following dates to register:

2. Complete the online VOLUNTEER INFORMATION FORM. (A hard copy of this form is available at the volunteer orientation)

Join us at the Fairfax Area Living Well, Aging Well Summit to be held April 16, 2016 at the Fairfax County Government Center from 9am-3pm. The mission of the summit is to collaborate, present knowledge and provide a forum for individuals, family members, general community members and industry professionals to explore multiple aspects of living and aging well. Volunteer Fairfax welcomed RSVP and Volunteer Solutions to iHeart Media to chat about volunteer opportunities for Boomers and members of the Greatest Generation. In studio, Angela Starling hosted Nadia Trznadel of RSVP Northern Virginia and Theresa Brown from Volunteer Solutions, a program of the Fairfax County Council on Aging.
Here is a recap on information that was shared: May is a busy month for the 55+ generation! National Senior Corp Week is May 16-20 presented by the Corporation for National and Community Service. For more information on this national program visit nationalservice.gov . Local activities are also being organized. RSVP Northern Virginia will host a recognition and recruitment event on May 17. For information on this event email email@example.com. Volunteer Solutions is partnering with area agencies, including RSVP, to celebrate National Older Americans Month through beautification projects every Friday in May. Volunteers will team up to assist local citizens who are unable to perform certain house and yard tasks. For information and to get involved contact Theresa Brown or call 703-327-5419. Senior Competitions are coming soon! In Washington DC the Golden Olympics take place May 2-13. The Maryland Senior Olympics will take place in August/September. And, in Northern Virginia, the annual Senior Olympics are scheduled for September 10-21. Information for athletes and volunteers is available at nsga.com and nvso.us.
